• Own and contribute to the design and development of photonic integrated circuits for Lucore’s frequency-domain processor.
• Translate key functions of the current fiber-based architecture into integrated photonic components and processing layers.
• Work closely with Lucore’s photonics leadership and with external foundries, fabrication facilities and technology partners.
• Deliver simulation- and fabrication-ready PIC designs, support fabrication and characterize first integrated devices against design targets.
• Hands-on experience with integrated photonics, PIC design, simulation and/or experimental characterization.
• Master’s degree or PhD in photonics, optical engineering, electrical engineering, applied physics or a closely related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of integrated optical components, waveguide photonics and the transition from photonic design to fabricated hardware.
• Practical, analytical and comfortable taking ownership in a small interdisciplinary deep-tech team while collaborating across research and engineering.
• Simulate and design PIC components and architectures.
• Prepare designs for fabrication using foundry processes and PDKs, and support design reviews, tape-out and fabrication iterations.
• Characterize fabricated photonic devices, compare measurements with simulations and feed experimental results into the next design cycle.
• Experience with hybrid photonic integration, and RF photonic
• Experience with photonic design and simulation tools such as Lumerical, COMSOL, IPKISS, Nazca, gdsfactory or comparable environments.
• Experience with photonic foundries, PDK-based design, cleanroom fabrication, optical testing, packaging or European photonics R&D ecosystems.s.
Location: Hannover, Germany or Copenhagen, Denmark. Hybrid arrangement with regular on-site work and access to relevant laboratories and collaborators.
